1994.
March 1, 1994. Session Minutes. Clerk’s Report. The clerk responded to the letter from Alfred and Winifred Hayes reactivating their membership. A letter was received from Harlan and Helen Asher terminating their membership. Evelyn Pike moved to accept their resignation with regret. Motion was second and carried. The clerk will notify them in writing.
The Audit Committee reported that all was in good order and commendations were sent to the treasurer.
Pastor’s Report. Pastor Letts attended the presbytery meeting on March 8th. She made 6 visitations and 8 caring calls; attended the Church Leadership seminar on February 26th; attended a meeting with the Committee on Preparation for Ministry on February 18th. She officiated at the funeral for Marcia Beckwith on February 23rd at the Capay Cemetery.
Worship Committee. New Member reception will be March 6th. The new members are: Jeanice Hurt, Vernon Finney and Barbara Finney. Palm Sunday service will be March 27th; Maundy Thursday will be March 31st with a simple meal and communion; Good Friday will be April 1st with a black drape placed on the cross; Easter Sunday sunrise at 6:30 a.m. and regular service at 10:30 a.m. with special music.
Old Business. Pre-School Update. Doing well. The enrollment is up to the maximum, they will definitely finish out their contract.
New Member Reception. March 26th. An ice cream social welcome for the confirmation class and introduction to the congregation. C.E. will look into bibles for each joining member of the class.
New Business. New Committees.
Building/Grounds - Arlie Hurt; Finance Secretary - Laurie Hayes; Stewardship & Finance - Paul Stephens; Christian Ed - Rachel Vieira; Worship - Suzanne Riley; Finance - Evelyn Pike.
Miscellaneous. When the Ashers terminated their membership with C.C.C., they requested we pick up Janet Hayes’ piano. The worship committee will make arrangements.

March 26, 1994. Special Session Minutes. Moderator: Pastor Letts. Session members present: Arlie Hurt, Paul Stephens, Suzanne Riley and Laurie Hayes. Members absent: Elizabeth Koeppen, Rachel Vieira, and Evelyn Pike. Pastor Tamara Letts opened with prayer. Purpose of the special meeting was to welcome new member candidates Nathaniel Riley, Melissa Brock, Renae Huie and Windy Bailey. They had completed a Jr. High new member class instruction and feel ready to commit themselves to active membership in our church and to the Lord. Candidates and session members enjoyed getting to know one another over ice cream sundaes. Suzanne moved to accept Nathaniel, Windy, Renae and Melissa as members of Countryside Community Church after Nathaniel and Windy are baptized. Arlie second and the motion was approved. Session members absent: Elizabeth Koeppen, Suzanne Riley, Laurie Hayes and Paul Stephens. Pastor Letts opened with prayer. The purpose of the special meeting was to welcome new member candidate Nathan Passantino. He has completed the Jr. High new member class instruction and feels ready to commit himself to active membership in our church and to the Lord. A motion was made to accept Nathan as a member of Countryside Community Church. Arlie second and motion was approved. The meeting was closed with prayer.

April 12, 1994. Session Minutes. Moderator: Pastor Tamara Letts. Clerk’s Report. Sacramento Presbytery sent form Appendix N for Study Leave to be filled out and approved by Session and then approved by the Committee on Ministry and by Presbytery before study leave can be taken.
Two baptisms were performed on March 27th. Nathaniel Riley, born August 4, 1980, son of Suzanne and Mark Riley; and Windy Bailey, born January 13, 1980, daughter of Georgette and Ken Bailey.
Five new members were presented to the congregation by confession of faith. Nathaniel Riley, Windy Bailey, Renae Huie, Melissa Brock and Nathan Passantino.
A letter of transfer was received from Woodland Presbyterian Church for Joseph and Ella Mae Haden. Evelyn Pike moved to fulfill the transfer with deep regret. The motion was second and approved. Pastor Letts wrote a personal letter of regret and best wishes.
Moderator’s Report. Pastor Letts made 3 visitations and 11 caring calls.
Jean Reynolds will be attending a computer class on WordPerfect 5.1 at the Esparto Adult Education Program, with the Finance Committee’s recommendation. The cost is $36, the Guinda Church will pay $12 and she is requesting Countryside pay the remaining $24. The motion was second and approved. Tammy will start preparing Jean for maintaining office procedures during the vacancy between Tammy’s leaving and a new pastor taking over.
Since Joe Haden’s transfer to Woodland, Countryside has been in need of another commissioner to Presbytery. Evelyn Pike is our continuing commissioner.
Committees. Committee on Ministry. In the absence of a Presbytery representative, Tammy reported that the Guinda church is definitely interested in a yoke position (¼ - ¾) for either a called or interim pastor. They are requesting a decision in regards to sharing a Methodist seminary student as a yoke interim pastor. It was decided not to accept at this time. Suzanne moved to begin the formation of the Nomination Committee to begin the process of seeking a pastor. Motion was second and approved. Tammy will call Presbytery and the Committee on Ministry and get the information we will need.
Buildings and Grounds. Arlie showed proposals for laying new plywood over existing foundations on the manse front porch. Tammy had a verbal bid from Bill representing a contractor. It was suggested we get a written proposal and sketch and bring it back to a special meeting. A work day is needed to do work around the church. The meeting adjourned.
April 26, 1994. Special Session Minutes. Moderator: Pastor Tamara Letts. Members present: Arlie Hurt, Evelyn Pike, Suzanne Riley, Laurie Hayes, Paul Stephens, Elizabeth Koeppen. Guest: Bill Van Duker, Chairman of the Committee on Ministry, Sacramento.
Pastor Letts opened the meeting with prayer. Purpose is to finish business from April 12th and to meet with Mr. Van Duker in regards to pastor leadership at C.C.C.
Clerk’s Report. Clerk read a letter of resignation from Rachel Vieira, citing conflicts of time between home, work and church obligations. Suzanne moved to accept her resignation with understanding and regret. Tammy will write a letter conveying expressions of regret, compassion, thanks and hope for the future.
Committee on Ministry. Mr. Bill Van Duker explained the leadership possibilities open to C.C.C., the time lines and some estimated expenses involved with those choices. After some discussion, the consensus of the Session was that a Designated Pastor with a 2-4 year term and a possibility of being installed after 3 years, might be the best way to go. Guinda Methodist Church is interested in entering a ¼ - ¾ yoke contract. Mr. Van Duker will look into this matter more closely. A Pastor Nominating Committee will have to be elected to start the process for seeking a new pastor. Mr. Bradley Van Sant will be our Moderator starting in June.
Moderator’s Report. Suzanne Riley moved to modify Tammy’s contract to terminate on May 26, 1994, because of personal business. Motion was second and approved. Evelyn Pike moved to accept Tammy’s letter of resignation, submitted to Session this evening, to terminate her relationship with Countryside Community Church on May 26, 1994. Motion was second and carried.
Suzanne moved to adjourn the meeting with prayer.
