1995.

July 18, 1995..  Session Minutes.   Rev. Katherine McIntosh-Smith opened Session by reading an excerpt of Robert Bohl’s closing comments on ending his directorship of the General Assembly and with a prayer.

The baptisms scheduled for June 25, 1995 for Troy Johannes and Tawnya Runninghawk were cancelled.

Christian Ed.  V.B.S. is scheduled for July 31 - August 4.  Some high school students will help paint backdrops for skits.  Press releases are going to newspapers and sign-ups are coming in.

Pre-school Room Paint and Carpet.  The painting is almost completed. The bids and terms of 3 companies for flooring in the Pre-school room (vinyl tile), nursery (industrial carpet) and nursery bathroom (vinyl tile) were comparable. It was moved and seconded to replace the flooring in all 3 rooms. Paul Stephens moved to allow Betty and Laurie to decide on the best price and company to do the work. Motion carried.

Installation.  Sunday, July 23, 1995 will be Rev. Kathy’s installation with a special offering designated for the pre-school flooring.  Laurie will do special flowers.

Session Thank you to Rev. Brad Van Sant. A gift certificate as a special thank you for his friendship, support and time as our Moderator June 1994 through June 1995.

PNC.  Suzanne read a letter from Dave Templin, Chairman of the Committee for Ministry, assuring Session that the requirements for an open search set forth by the COM have been satisfied by our PNC, in regards to extending a call to the Rev. McIntosh-Smith in three years if both parties are agreeable at that time.

Meeting closed with prayer.

August 8, 1995.  Session Minutes.  Rev. McIntosh-Smith opened the Session with a prayer.

A letter was received from Dean and Shirley Aune requesting re-activitation of their membership.  Request granted.

Pre-school Room Paint and Carpet.  Woodland Carpet Works installed the vinyl tile and industrial carpet in the pre-school and nursery rooms at a cost of $1783.00, including all materials and labor.

October 12, 1995.  Session Minutes.  Clerk’s Report.  The Clerk asked Session to review the names of 5 young adults who are non-attending for more than 4 years. Vern Finney moved to transfer David Jeremy Badley, Alan Dahm, Serena Denny, Gregory Giguiere and Jonathon Charles Navarro to inactive membership.  Motion carried. The clerk will notify the 5 members by mail.

Buildings & Grounds. Arlie reported the lights to illuminate the stained glass windows on the western side of the church will cost approximately $100 to install. Betty moved to accept the proposal and that volunteers do the job at their convenience.

New Member Class.  Three prospective members are P.J. Simmons, Liz Schwall and Linda Williams. It was decided by common consent for Session to meet with those completing the classes and desiring membership on November 5th after church, and to present the accepted new members to the congregation November 12 during regular worship.

November 5, 1995.  Special Session Minutes.

Moderator:  Rev. McIntosh-Smith.  Clerk:  Elizabeth Koeppen

Elders attending: Arlie Hurt, Laurie Hayes, Vern Finney, Suzanne Riley, Ellen Peckham.

Purpose:  To examine and approve two persons seeking membership to Countryside Community Church.

Rev. McIntosh-Smith reported Patricia Jo Simmons and Elizabeth Schwall have attended 3 classes and wish to join the church.  Patricia Simmons by reaffirming her faith and Liz Schwall by baptism and affirmation of faith.  Paul Stephens moved to accept them into membership. Motion was second and approved. They will be received by the congregation November 19, 1995 

November 14, 1995.  Session Minutes.  Rev. Kathy McIntosh-Smith opened with prayers from St. Francis of Assisi and St. Patrick of Ireland.  

Elders present: Arlie Hurt, Laurie Hayes, Betty Koeppen, Vern Finney, Paul Stephens, and Suzanne Riley.    Visitor: Linda Williams,seeking membership by reaffirmation of faith.

After a brief examination, Laurie moved to accept Linda Williams as a new member. Linda will be presented to the congregation on November 19,1995.

Buildings & Grounds. Arlie reported the lights to illuminate the stained glass window were installed by Vern Finney, Dan Landher and Arlie. Arlie will look into a timer switch for those lights, as they are only on for short periods of time.  A broken pre-school window frame has been repaired.  Vern moved to have an all-church work day on January 13, 1996. Motion carried.

Rev. Kathy reported that Frank Fox has applied for a grant to open a morning pre-school at our facility for the future. Session requested information as it becomes available.

Christmas Baskets.  Coats and blankets were made available last year with the food baskets and were gladly received.  It was agreed to do so again this year.

The meeting was adjourned with prayer.

December 12, 1995.  Session Minutes.  Rev. McIntosh-Smith opened the meeting with prayers and an Advent reading. 

Clerk’s Report.  Recommendation to change Catherine Elise Koeppen Daniels membership from active to inactive, she now resides in Iowa.  Recommendation accepted.

Rev. Kathy reported more people are stopping by the office informally.  The wedding of Aimee Michelle Giguiere and Paul Edmund Julian will be in the sanctuary January 6, 1996, with Rev. Kathy officiating..

Susie Bourland has requested to have a wedding in our church February 24, 1996.

New Business.  Rev. Kathy presented plans to start a Sr. High Youth Group.  A caroling party and potluck dinner will be the kick off and a second meeting will be set before school resumes in the new year. The youth group will be part of the C.E. department. The plans had unanimous support.

Pre-school. The pre-school floor needs to be refinished now that the pre-school has a storage shed. The floors are marred and scratched from moving equipment in and out every day. Laurie moved to hire Mary Dixon and Lara Toth to strip the floors and rewax them during the Christmas break. Motion seconded and carried.

Other Business.  Almond Festival. A country store idea for a fund raiser at the Almond Festival was discussed at length. Every church member will be requested to donate something to sell. A sign on main street will advertise “Free Coffee”.  Arlie moved to accept the plans, and was seconded by Paul Stephens.  Motion carried.
