Bill Clinton was U.S. President, Al Gore was Vice President; California Governor was Gray Davis, Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante; Yolo County District Attorney Jeff W. Reisig, Yolo County Sheriff Tom Lopez.
Many people thought the world would end around 1999 and 2000 primarily due to the Y2K computer bug, the Nostradamus prophecies and some millennial religious anxiety. Older computer software saved memory by using only the last two digits for the years (“99” for 1999). Some people feared that when the clock hit midnight, systems would read “00” as the year 1900, crashing global infrastructure like power grids, banking and air traffic control. Extreme doomsday preppers worried this digital failure would trigger a total breakdown of modern civilization. There was a worldwide effort to fix code before the date arrived and because of that massive effort, very few disruptions actually happened.
February 9, 1999. Session Minutes.
Pastor Kathy opened the meeting with prayer. Ordination and installation of Elders will be February 21, 1999. The missionaries from Africa will be here April 11, 1999. Other churches will be invited
Nurture. Jim presented some ideas for discussion: spiritual needs, prayer chains, pastoral care and Friday Nighters social, as well as birthdays, anniversaries, transportation for members, and reaching out to former members.
Worship. A discussion was held regarding new hymnals. A committee was formed.
Leadership Training Workshop, Pastor Kathy, George, Ellen and Roy will attend.
The meeting was closed with a scripture reading.
March 9, 1999. Session Minutes.
The meeting was opened with prayer by Pastor Kathy and the devotion was led by George Loki.
Moderator’s Report. Approved by consensus to baptize Laura, Olivia and Athena Dixon on March 28, 1999. Jeanice Strutton has resigned as secretary. Janice Lopez was hired to work Tuesday and Thursday.
A potluck lunch will be hosted April 11th when Dr. and Mrs. Tshihamba, missionaries from the African Congo come to speak..
Second Sundays will be set aside for contemporary music to encourage younger members. A keyboard player is needed.
April 13, 1999. Session Minutes.
Moderator’s Report. Roy May moved to approve a request for the baptism of Alfred and Winifred Hayes' great-granddaughter on May 9, 1999. Motion second and approved.
Bill and Roy will set up chairs and sound systems for the Tom Wicks memorial. Ellen will be an usher.
Pentecost Sunday and picnic is May 23, 1999.
Community of People Network for Small Churches is in Fort Collins August 7-10, 1999.

May 11, 1999. Session Minutes.
Pastor Kathy opened with prayer. Roy led the devotion with music.
Moderator’s Report. Special services were held for Tom Wick’s Memorial and for the baptism of Peer-Marie Oppenheimer.
A discussion on church improvements. The structure is primary. Carol Means, Bill Rominger, Mark Riley and Roy May will prioritize what improvements need to be made. A contractor will evaluate and give some cost estimates. The Women’s Auxiliary would like new flooring for the Social Hall.
Worship. On Pentecost Sunday, congregants will put their red painted hand print on a paper banner. Red balloons will be the decorations and doves will be set free at the end of the service.

June 8, 1999. Session Minutes.
Moderator’s Report. Special services were held for Kristin Kuehn’s memorial on May 15, 1999. Pastor Kathy reported many letters were received from the Kuehn Family members.
Financial Report. Bill Rominger reviewed the report and then a discussion was held regarding the need for a loan for repairs project including re-doing the stairway and walkway. Another discussion was held on hiring a musician as there are funds available for church development.

June 26, 1999. Special Session Minutes.

Purpose: To accept new members.
Roy moved to welcome and accept into membership, Laura Dixon, Steve Dixon and Shirley Jennings. Motion second by George and carried.

September 14, 1999. Session Minutes.
The meeting opened with prayer by Pastor Kathy. Bill Rominger gave a devotional and Roy May shared a prayer poem.
Financial Report. Bill reviewed the report. A motion by Roy to place the VBS extra collection in the Christian Education Fund. Motion second and approved.
Buildings and Grounds. Bill reported the Manse bathroom floor was repaired and the toilet replaced. A fall work day is scheduled for November 13th. A discussion was held regarding childcare on the church property.
Memorial and Stewardship. Carol reported November 14th will be Stewardship Dedication Sunday. A stewardship letter will be in the October newsletter and presentations will be given by church members.
Father Joe from St. Martin’s joined the meeting informally to discuss combining youth groups.
Steve and Laura Dixon, Pastor Kathy, Father Joe and other interested parents are scheduled to meet regarding a youth group.

A Special Session Meeting was called by Pastor Kathy McIntosh Smith. The meeting was held in the Nursery/Sunday School room of Countryside Community Church.

Pastor Kathy opened the meeting with prayer.
Pastor Kathy McIntosh Smith announced her resignation as Pastor of Countryside Community Church and submitted her letter of resignation.
Discussion was held with Presbyter Representative, Bob Pomeroy, as to the next steps for the church. Ellen Peckham moved that at the Special Congregational Meeting be set for December 19, 1999, immediately following the Christmas Pageant, the congregation would move on Pastor Kathy’s resignation. Motion second and carried.
Session met and with real sadness accepted the resignation of Kathy McIntosh Smith.

A Special Congregational Meeting was held on December 19, 1999 at the Countryside Community Church immediately following the regular church service.

Pastor Kathy McIntosh Smith opened the meeting with prayer at 11:25am.
A motion was made by Cindy Brock to concur with the wishes of the pastor, Kathy McIntosh Smith, to request Presbytery to dissolve the pastoral relationship with Countryside Community Church, effective Monday, January 10, 2000.
The vote was taken by secret vote.
It was approved with 28 yes votes and 1 no vote.
Motion carried.

Motion was made by Carol to approve the baptism of Debbie York and Madison Ray Welsh at Countryside Church on January 2, 2000. Ellen second the motion, motion carried.
Debbie York is the daughter of member Judy York and Madison Ray Welsh is Judy York’s granddaughter.
